New York players compete in Quad State Pickleball ChallengeFrom New York State Team Captain Chris Rusc... This past Saturday, southern Vermont welcomed top pickleball players from New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and New Hampshire for the second annual Quad State Pickleball Challenge. Teams of 18 players from each state competed in an MLP-style event while helping raise awareness and support for MEF2C, a rare genetic disorder. New York battled through round-robin play and advanced to a bronze-medal matchup against Vermont after closing a key gap against New Hampshire by winning six of eight mixed matches. Massachusetts defeated New Hampshire for gold, while New York finished just short in the bronze match. Tournament organizers said the event raised $6,500 for the MEF2C Family Foundation. Special thanks from Team New York went to Hot Crispy Oil, VAIR, Pickleball518 and local supporters. Next year, the crown is ours. Helping people with arthritis holds a special place in the hearts of the staff at Pickleball Galaxy. The company's operations manager Brandon Sleight has a young daughter living with arthritis. Carolyn is the Youth Honoree in the upcoming Arthritis Community Weekend at Siena. Carolyn was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) in 2023 when she was 8 years old. This disease is systemic but has specifically impacted her skin, joints, and muscles. With the care and support of her medical team at Boston Children’s and Albany Medical Center, her family, friends, teachers, and school, Carolyn thrives despite her diagnosis. She swims on her local YMCA swim team, plays three instruments, and loves dogs, especially her two labs, Lexi and Tru. She aspires to one day work as an ER or OR nurse and her favorite show is currently The Pitt. - The Arthritis Foundation Pickleball Galaxy has two teams entered into the Friday night Team Competition at the Dink for a Cure. #078 June 11, 2026 | Read on the web Thank you to so many helpers... It takes a village to run a pickleball tournament, especially at a venue not designed for pickleball. I am very grateful to all the volunteers who made the Dink for A Cure possible. Last weekend's events, which included the Walk for A Cure, raised more than $75,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. You can find a list and photos of the pickleball medalists here and photos from the whole weekend here. I am deeply grateful to the...
#076 May 7, 2026 | Read on the web Video covers the basics for first-time tournament players I had played pickleball casually a few times, but in 2019 I competed in a little tournament at Pickle in the Park in Northville, NY, and from that moment, I was HOOKED on pickleball. Tournaments are a blast, but playing in your first one can be a little intimidating. So, YMCA Tournament Director Jennifer Kendrick, myself and pickleball ref KK Kear held a Zoom webinar to help explain what tournaments...
#075 April 23, 2026 | Read on the web Volunteering at the U.S. Open in Naples I spent last week in Naples, Florida, at the U.S Open (Pickleball). I didn't get into the tournament to play but I volunteered on the court operations team. I don't quite understand why, but I enjoy it. I tried to find every speck of shade! My spectacularly big hat helped. :) Photo by Peter Bojarczuk. Every game is reffed at the Open. Last year, the refs reported the scores. They would walk off the court and go to a...
